Each of the beach communities have public beaches. Most have public parking, outdoor showers and rest rooms. For the disabled, Treasure Island features a beach boardwalk and the use of free beach wheelchairs (they go in the sand!) Upham Beach in St. Pete Beach also has a wheelchair accessible boardwalk to the beach. Free beach wheelchairs are available daily from 9.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. St. Petersburg Municipal Beach, 11260 Gulf Blvd., Treasure Island (727 360 3278). Madeira Beach, Treasure Islands and St. Pete Beach have public tennis courts and beach volleyball courts. Treasure Island has a 9-hole public golf course. There are many additional golf courses throughout the county. Pick up a copy of Golfer's Guide locally. Ft. DeSoto Park, 3500 Pinellas Bayway South, Tierra Verde. A 900-acre park with 7 miles of beach frontage. Historic Ft. DeSoto was built in 1898 and tours of the Fort are available. The park has areas for swimming, hiking, picnicing, trails for bicycling, roller blading and canoeing, picnic tables and charcoal grills. There is a 1,000 ft. long pier for fishing. Europa Seakruz, John's Pass Village and Boardwalk, Madeira Beach. Six-hour day or evening cruise. Vegas style casino, free meal, live entertainment. Shell Key Shuttle & Sunset Cruises. Enjoy shelling, sunbathing, snorkelling, bird and dolphin watching, or just relax. Rent beach umbrellas, masks and snorkels. bring your own cooler, shell bag and other beach stuff. Departs from Merry Pier at Pass-A-Grille, St. Pete Beach.(1.5 miles south of the Don CeSar Resort). Whether you are a football, baseball, hockey or soccer fan, you will be able to catch a professional game in Tampa Bay!
